Chapter 14

After having a long talk Spencer and I decided that we wouldn’t punish the child for its fathers mistakes, Spencer kept the baby and we brought it up as our own. About a year after Dylan was born we got married and became an official family, Dylan had grown up thinking he was mine and that we didn’t need a guy in our life as his father figure as he had uncle Glen.

“GET UP!!!” was all I could hear as someone was jumping on the bed ontop of me “Mom we gotta go school come on…” Dylan shouted as he lifted his legs in the air and let himself fall, he did this every morning because he knew id wake up and catch him so he didn’t land on me

“Ok Dylan im up but isn’t Spence taking you today” I said as I pulled him into a hug. Dylan didn’t look anything like his father, he had lovely blonde hair with Spencer’s amazing blue eyes. Dylan often asked why he didn’t look like me too which broke Spencer’s heart because she still felt guilty that he wasn’t actually mine…my response was always ‘you got you moms looks but everything else is off me’ but then Spencer would always have to get the last word in and says something like ‘yeah Dylan you got your moms personality…so we are going have to keep the girls away from you’ she laughed. I’m not saying it wasn’t easy at first as Spencer couldn’t bond with Dylan as he reminded her of Aiden.

“Hey mom was watching the news this morning and she dropped her bowl when she saw two people come on, it said something about they were out of jail and when they spoke they said that they were going to apologise to the people they hurt and the guy said he was going to get his son back” Dylan rambled as he got off the bed and ran downstairs.

I didn’t think anything of it until I got downstairs and saw Spencer crying in the kitchen while Dylan was watching cartoons

“Spence…whats up?” I asked as I walked over to her and pulled her towards me and hugged

“They’re out Ash…Aiden want Dylan” she said before she cried more into my shoulder, I tried to comfort her but what Dylan had rambled on about was stuck in my head

“Why is mommy crying?” Dylan asked so innocently as he walked into the kitchen with his cup, he came over and hugged our legs forcing me and Spencer to part. Spencer turned away to wipe her tears while I picked Dylan up

“Mommy is crying because you have to go to school instead of spending the day with her” I laughed as I began to tickle him in my arms, his giggle echoed around the house making both me and Spencer smile

“Can you both take me to school?” he asked after I put him down on the side and began to tie his shoes

“Yeah, of course we can sweetie” Spencer smiled as she kissed him on the head. I then took him off the side and he ran to get his school things

“Ash, I cant lose him…he our son” she said trying not to break down again, I wrapped my arms around her and kissed her head

“Spence I am not letting anyone take my family from me” I said gripping her tight as my heart broke slightly at the thought of Dylan being taken away.

“Come on you can be horrible with each other later” Dylan shouted at the front door making Spencer laugh, Although he was only five Dylan was smart like Spencer but had become cocky like me. He might not have my blood running through his veins but he is more my son than Spencer’s and a hell of a lot more than Aiden’s.

After taking Dylan to school I went to the studio, Spencer didn’t feel like sitting at home on her own so she came with me. The car ride to the school was quiet as Spencer was thinking and I was busy keeping an eye on the road and listening to Dylan singing one of my dads songs that had come on the radio, with Dylan done Spencer just looked at me for the whole ride to the studio

“Spence your putting me off now” I said as I turned my head slightly and looked at her, I placed my left hand on her knee to try and comfort her as I knew what she was thinking about.

“Ash I thought things were going to be ok” she said as she placed her head down, watching the road I gripped her knee tighter

“Babe everything is going to be fine, Dylan is our son and he isn’t going anywhere…I promise” I said as I pulled the car into my parking space and we climbed out. We walked around to meet each other and held hands as we headed into the building

“Hey Ash there is a couple here to see you…they said they were old friends and they havent seen you in a few years because they were away” Lois said as I went to my office. I had decided to start my own record label in memory of my father so I had hired Lois as my personal assistant so I could spend more time with my Spencer and Dylan “Hi Mrs Davies” she continued when she saw my wife was walking with me

“Thanks Lois” I said politely as Spencer just nodded her head and smiled to say hi back to Lois. The hadn’t really seen eye to eye as Lois was a few years younger than Spencer and was pretty good looking, I had assured Spencer she was the only one for me but Lois didn’t understand that fully and tended to flirt with me.

Spencer looked at me and shook her head, I pulled her closer and wrapped my arm around her shoulder lovingly

“Ash you know she still has a crush on you right” she said as she put her arm around my waist

“I know she does….I also know that I like someone else” I replied smirking

“Ashley who do you like?” Spencer asked sounding worried, she pulled away from me slightly as we got to my office door and stood outside for a moment

“I still like my wife” I said as I again pulled her closer and kissed her she hit me on the arm playfully before she kissed me back. We then pulled apart and went into my office to see two familiar people waiting for me.

“Well if it isn’t both Mrs Davies” Carmen laughed as she walked over to us, Aiden was sat in my chair going through things on my computer

“You know we made a good looking child you and I Spencer” Aiden sniggered as he printed a picture of Dylan off, I went to go towards him but Spencer rested her hand on my shoulder keeping me back

“What do you want” I asked in a calm voice so Lois didn’t wonder what was going on

“We are here to get his son and my girl” Carmen said as she walked towards Spencer making her grip my arm

“They don’t belong to you Ashley you took them” Aiden said as he walked towards us and pushed me back from Spencer

“Leave her alone” I said as Carmen began to stroke her arm

“Or else what Davies you let us kick your head in again” she laughed before I got up and walked over to her and grabbed her hand

“Keep you hands off my wife!” I snapped as I gripped her wrist causing her to gasp in pain, it didn’t last long though because Aiden came over making me let go of Carmen and protect Spencer. Just as Aiden went to grab me Lois walked in

“Ash…oh sorry I forgot your friends were….is everything ok?” she asked confused as to why Carmen held her arm in pain, Spencer was hiding behind me and Aiden looked as if he was about to smack me

“Lois everything is fine, can you do me a favour and take Spencer to go and get Dylan from school” I said as I gripped Spencer’s hand and dragged her towards Lois at the door

“Sure thing Ash” she smiled as Spencer looked at me

“Ash I can stay here with you Dylan knows who Lois is…” she said before I shook my head and stopped her

“Spencer Dylan said he wanted us to pick him up so one of us has to and as our friends are here” I said and looked at Aiden and Carmen “I think it is only polite that one of us stay here with them” I smiled weakly hoping Spencer would go and get our son to safety

“Ok but call me when you leave, dinner is at 6 so make sure you leave her for about half 4” she said making a point to let Lois know when Ashley had to leave

“Don’t worry babe I wont be late….I promise” I said as I walked over to her and kissed her before I gently pushed her out of the door and closed it leaving me alone with Aiden and Carmen knowing that they were after my blood.

I looked at Carmen who headed towards me, Aiden went back over to the desk and sat in the chair and looked at us

“You are going to give back everything you stole” Carmen said as she hit me sending me crashing against the door, it seemed she had gotten tougher in jail

“you can hit me as much as you like you wont get my family” I laughed as I smacked her back, she staggered slightly and looked at me in shock

“So now you fight back” she smiled as she wiped blood from her split lip

“I have more to lose now …so yeah im going to fight back” I said as we both ran towards each other and got into a fist fight, Aiden stayed back until her saw I was sat ontop of Carmen smacking her in the face like there was no tomorrow

“Hey get off her” he shouted as he ran towards us and threw me off Carmen, it seemed she had passed out already. He turned to face me with anger in his eyes “You Davies are dead” he said as he flew at me

“Aiden what happened to you” I shouted making him stop in his tracks. “you used to be the most gentle guy on the planet, you were NEVER the type to rape an old friend of yours” I said hoping to god he wouldn’t continue towards me as I didn’t have the energy to fight him off too

“I didn’t rape her she wanted me and you took my chid” he said as he looked at me with more anger in his eyes

“No Aiden she didn’t want it because she said NO and I didn’t take your child…you took Spencer’s pride, her confidence and her dignity all so you could get laid” I snapped back before I turned and walked away from him towards the door

“Ashley your talking crap” he said as he grabbed my arm to stop me

“If im talking such crap why is my wife too scared to make love to me with the lights out, too scared to go to a club and too scared to even see your picture on the tv and her body shakes whenever she hears the name Aiden….you lost her because you turned into a drug taking rapist” I said to him while are faces were inches apart so he could see the truth in my eyes “Now if you don’t mind I have a wife and child I have to get home too….get her outta my office before I send you both back to prison” I pulled my arm out of his grip and walked out of my office and to my car and drove home.

I havent had a call or text off Ashley letting me know if she is ok, the whole car ride to Dylan’s school I was worried and Lois could see that

“Are you ok Mrs Davies” she asked as she saw my hands shaking as we drove

“I just need to get my son and get home” I said hoping she would get the message that I didn’t want to talk about it

“Is that Dylan’s father back at the studio?” she asked making my heart stop from shock

“Wh…..wha…What makes you say that” I asked clearly unnerved by the question

“Dylan looks like him, he has that cute jaw line and the smile…” I cut her off not wanting to hear how much my son looked like a rapist

“Just drive” I said as I looked out of my window to hide the tears

“Im sorry I didn’t know you and Ash didn’t talk about his father” she continued making me become angry before I knew what I was doing I had turned to look at her and lost it

“Yeah that is Dylan’s father….that is the guy who raped me at my engagement party before beating the shit out of Ashley….and the women there she is my ex girlfriend who beat me black and blue who also put Ashley in hospital but did a hell of a lot more damage than Aiden did to either of us” I let everything out before I turned around and cried harder as I worried for Ashley’s safety, I figured I has shocked Lois because she didn’t say anything else to me.

We got to Dylan’s school and she waited in the car as I went to pick him up, I headed to the office and asked where my son was

“Mrs Davies it is too early to pick Dylan up” the receptionist said as she pointed towards the clock on the wall

“I know its early but it’s a family emergency and I have to go to my parents in Ohio” I explained as tears began to build up again

“Oh erm I shall go and get him for you” she said as she went off to get Dylan from class, I was pacing around as I couldn’t get images off Ashley being beaten by Aiden the night of the rape out of my head

“Mommy!!” I heard down the corridor, I turned around to see Dylan running towards me with his arms spread open. I caught him in my arms and picked him up giving him a hug, I held on to him afraid to let go

“hey sweetie, we have to go and stay in Ohio for a while ok” I said as I carried him out to the car, from the way he looked at car it seemed he was hoping Ashley would get out. When he saw Lois turn and look at him his face dropped

“Where is mom?” he asked obviously hurt that she didn’t come too

“Ash is still at work, she had to sort everything out so we can go away without anyone interrupting us…she said she was getting you a surprise too so I guess it’s a good job she didn’t come too isn’t it” I said as I kissed his cheek and he smiled

“Mom is getting me a surprise…what is it?” he asked getting excited, he threw is arms around my neck tighter and hugged me “I love you mommy” he said as he rested is head on my shoulder

“Love you too Dylan” I said as I put him in the back of the car and put his seatbealt on him. All the way home he tried to guess what his surprise was, Lois still didn’t say anything to me making me feel guilty for snapping
