“Lois about before….im sorry I shouldn’t have gone off at you like that” I said as I looked in the back to check on Dylan who had now began to fall asleep, he had gotten so excited he had worn himself out.

“Mrs Davies its fine I shouldn’t have said anything” she smiled at me weakly before we pulled up outside our house. I got out and took Dylan into my arms and rested his head on my shoulder as he slept, I looked around but I couldn’t see Ashley’s car on the driveway. Putting the key in the door I opened it and went in, as I shut the door and headed up stairs to Dylan’s room I heard someone open the door again

“Spence?? Dylan??” I heard Ashley shout as she threw her keys on the side, I heard her walking around downstairs before she headed upstairs. I had just finished putting Dylan to bed when she appeared in the door way

“Hey beautiful” she smiled at me as I ran into her arms and held her, she had a small bruise on her cheek but other than that she looked like she was fine

“Did they hurt you?” I asked as I lifted Ashley’s shirt to check her body, she still had a few scars from when she had been beaten before, the worst was where they had to operate on her to stop the internal bleeding

“babe im fine, hows he?” she asked as she looked towards Dylan who was sleeping in bed

“He’s fine, he wore himself out trying to think of the surprise I told him you were getting him” I said as I hugged her again holding her tighter

“well it’s a good job I got him one then” she smiled as she kissed me

“Ash what happened” I asked as we left Dylan’s room and went downstairs

“I beat Carmen and Aiden got a few home truth told to him” she smiled as she took a beer out of the fridge

“Is it over?” I asked as she casually took a sip out of the bottle

“I don’t know Spence but I think we should go see family” she replied as she tried to hide the worry in her voice

“I have told Dylan we are going to Ohio, I will ring my parents now” I said as I kissed her cheek, as I did I could see her hand was shaking as it clutched the bottle, I didn’t want to say anything so I went and rung my parents. After talking with them and telling them what happened they were happy to let us go stay there.

“They will get the spare room sorted for when we get there” I said as I turned around and went to pack some things for us.
