Chapter 16

Spencer and I had found a nice house just down the road from her parents, it was big enough for the family to grow and for people to come stay. As we walked around the house I noticed the house next door was up for sale too

“Excuse me, how much is that one?” I asked as I pointed to the smaller house next door

“that one isn’t priced yet but it is less than this one why would you like that one instead?” she asked as Spencer looked at me confused

“No I’d like them both please” I said confidently as I turned around and walked up to Spence and kissed her

“Ash we don’t need two houses” she said looking more confused like the estate agent did

“No Spence we don’t but Kyla and Glen need a bigger house to now that she is expecting” I said not realising what I was saying

“Shes what?” Spencer asked as I turned to look at her

“Shit I just told you…you cant tell her I told you but she is pregnant again Spence isn’t that amazing” I said sounding alittle more excited than I should

“that’s great news babe” she smiled and hugged me, I turned back to the estate agent and told her to get papers ready for both houses. As we left the house my phone began to go off sending Spencer into a small panic

“Babe he is fine, Ky said he is out for the night” I put my arm around her as we walked the small distance to the car. We both got in and began to drive home, Spencer quiet and in her own world as she looked out of the window. I was becoming worried as she didn’t seem herself, I thought it might have been with the others getting out of jail but when I think about it she was off before that

“Spence…whats up?” I asked as we pulled onto the driveway, I turned the engine off and turned to face Spencer. It took her a few moments to face me, but when she did I smiled making her smile slightly too “Babe…whats on your mind?” I asked as I stroked her cheek

“Ash…I want another baby” she said before she put her head down, it was like her wanting a bigger family was a bad thing. Placing my hand under her chin I lifter her head up

“whats so bad about that” I asked as I wiped a tear that had slowly fallen

“I want a bigger family but after what happened I don’t think I can” she said as she lowered her eyes as more tears began to fall, I knew what she was on about and it hit me that one of us had to face our fears.

“you really want us to have another child?” I asked as I lifted her gaze to mine again, she nodded her head as she was too upset to speak. I took in a deep breath and sighed deeply, I closed my eyes and removed my hand from Spencer’s chin. I then opened my eyes and kissed Spencer “I’ll do it” I said as I pressed my lips against hers and tasted her salty tears

“Ash??” she asked confused as she pulled away and looked at me

“I’ll carry our child” I said, my heart began to pound in my chest preventing me from breathing as I thought about having a child inside me again. Until now I had never considered getting pregnant again as the pain of losing my child almost killed me the first time round and now I had three hearts to deal with, Spencer’s Dylan’s and mine…I couldn’t let my family down

“Ash you don’t…” she tried to talk but I kissed her to stop her

“You gave me a child, now let me give you one. I love you more than life it’s self, you’re the love of my life and I want to have the biggest family we can together. You did the bravest thing in the world when you kept Dylan even though the way we got him was the worst way in the world…now its my turn to be brave and get over my fears of having children” I said as tears formed in my eyes

“Oh Ash…I love you you big softy” Spencer laughed before we got out of the car and headed into the house.

Spencer and I walked into the house, it was about 6pm and the kids were in bed. The estate agent made an exception about seeing us so late when she saw the name Davies, although it was also a huge name from my father being a rocker I had kind of made it bigger with my own records and label.

“Is that you guys??” we heard Kyla shout as I closed the door behind us

“Yeah its us” Spencer shouted back in a whispered tone so she didn’t wake the kids up, Dylan had a habit of getting excited the minute he saw us even if we’d only been out of the room for five minutes…the way he acted you would have thought it was five years. We walked through to see Glen and Kyla cuddling on the couch watching tv

“We have something to tell you, we wasn’t sure if we should because of everything going on in L.A” Kyla said as she sat up from leaning on Glen and looked towards Spencer, walking around Spencer sat down next to Kyla and placed her hand on her knee

“What ever is going on in L.A isn’t important Ky what it is??” she said as she smiled at her sister in-law

“Well….we’re having another baby” she said as she waited for Spencer’s reaction

“Ky, Glen that’s great news” she said as she hugged them both, I went round and hugged them both too

“So when will the next Davies be here?” Glen asked as he looked between us, Spencer put her head down so I looked back at Glen

“Another Davies??” I asked as I put my arm around Spence

“Yeah, you pair are amazing parents…don’t you feel its time to add to the family?” he continued as he looked at Kyla who nodded her head in agreement

“Well we were talking about it in the car and well after what happened im not ready to go through anything like that” Spencer said as she looked up at Glen, it seemed she was still feeling guilty about not being able to bare my second child

“Oh shit Spence sorry I didn’t think about that” Glen said as he got up and walked to his sisters side of the couch

“Its ok Glen” she said as she hugged her brother back

“Im having it” I said making Glen pull from the hug and look at me shocked, Kyla stood up an placed her arm on my shoulder

“Ash are you sure?? I mean last time you got pregnant your heart was broken because you lost it” she said as a tear fell as I remembered the pain

“Ky the pain of losing a baby is nothing compared to the pain I would feel if our dreams of having a bigger family were shattered” I said as I looked at Spencer and smiled.

“Well as long as you’re both sure” she said before it was her turn to hug us and congratulate us

“Yeah we are” I said before I walked over to Spence and hugged her, we all sat on the couch and put a movie on.

“Glen I think we are going to need to get a bigger house” Kyla said as the movie started

“No need sis I got it sorted” I said before I sat back and pulled Spencer into my arms

“What do you mean you have it sorted??” she asked making me and Spencer smile

“Alicia told me that ‘mommy tummy is getting bigger’ so I guessed there was another Carlin on the way so I bought you guys a house today” I said as I wrapped my arms around Spencer lovingly

“It will be next door to our new house” Spencer continued as she stroked my arms

“You guys bought us a house….next door to you?” Glen asked still trying to process things

“Yeah it is here in Ohio” Spencer said as she laughed at her brothers reaction

“Does that mean you guys are moving from LA?” Kyla asked making me and Spencer look at each other, we had talked about getting a house here but not about leaving LA

“I think staying in Ohio is the best thing for my family at the moment Ky so I will probably travel to LA when I need to” I smiled and kissed Spencer who looked happy that I answered for her.

After we had finished talking we settled to watch the film, as usual though Spence and Ky fell asleep within the first half hour if watching. Glen and I didn’t want to move them so we continued to watch the film, we were about 45minutes into it when a scream rang through the house

“MOMMY” was all we could hear scream, Spencer and Kyla stirred. Glen and I tried to figure which child it was that was shouting “MOMMY!!” after hearing the shout again I new it was Dylan, I moved from beneath Spencer not waking her and ran upstairs like my life depended on it. I ran into our room and saw Dylan crying

“Hey little man whats up?” I asked as I picked him up and sat in the chair with him, I wiped tears from his eyes and slowly rocked back and too with him

“you didn’t come back” he cried as he wrapped his arms around my neck and hugged me tightly, he had a strong grip for a five year old

“It’s ok im here now” I soothed as I continued to rock him as I wrapped my arms tighter around him to let him feel safe

“is mommy back too?” he asked as he pulled away from our hug and looked me straight in the eye, he began to play with my necklace which he usually did.
