Paula was sitting on the couch when Franzi came our from the shower all dressed. Franzi felt a little woozy and fresh as though she'd never done drugs no mater how much she did.

Paula asked, 'Are you feeling well again' with a smile on the face.

Franzi said, 'I feel weird somehow. Maybe I should drink something.' Franzi was still disoriented from her withdrawal and dehydration. She fumbled in the kitchen but got a bottle of water.

Franzi asked, 'Why is it "hungry for love"? Shouldn't it be "thirsty"?'

Paula didn't know what to say. She just smiled at Franzi while she drank the water. Then both of them looked at the line of cocaine on the table. Paula didn't say anything. She just had a concerned look on her face. Then she looked at Franzi as she sat down on the couch.

Paula asked, 'Everything okay?'

Franzi said, 'I never felt better.' She had a need to confess what she'd done to herself with sniffing cocaine. 'Somehow, everything went faster than I thought it would. One line here, one line there, and then I don't feel the pain anymore.' When Paula put her hand on top of Franzi's, she continued, 'Somehow, everything went completely out of hand. And now that I have stolen from Daniel....that is the very last straw. But I'll pay it back to him.' Changing the subject from Daniel, Franzi decided, 'I want to get my life completely under control again. With you. Without drugs. Drugs just destroy everything...' then looking Paula in the eyes, Franzi finished, 'and everybody.'

Paula was very pleased with Franzi. She'd taken the first step: Admitting she had a problem and setting her goals. Paula said, 'I think that's good.' Franzi had her A-Levels to deal with as well. Without cocaine on the brain, she could take the test with a clear mind. Any achievement was but a single step in the right direction.

Franzi asked, 'Will you help me, please?'

Paula said, 'Sweetie. You don't really think that I would leave you hanging, do you?' Then she took Franzi's hands and said, 'We'll make it....Together.'

Breakfast on the floor was raw fruit slices and talk about motorbikes in the summer. Paula thought they'd be perfect but Franzi was all for a bike for all seasons. Paula had gotten around to lacing up her shoes because she didn't want John to get nervous.

Franzi asked, 'You have to go home now?'

Paula said, 'I'll have to go home some time. John is surely already asking himself where I am.' They both got up and Franzi asked, 'You'll come back, won't you?' She was afraid that Paula would go back into John's waiting arms. Paula said, 'Of course.' To seal themselves together, Paula asked, 'Don't you actually notice how hard it is for me to go now?' Then Paula put her hands on Franzi's hair.

Franzi said, 'Only because....back then, when you went to John, there.'

Paula interrupted, 'Hey, that was a mistake. Okay? I LOVE YOU and that is why I am going to talk to John right away. And this time..I will tell him the truth. "That I want to be together with you". And that the thing with him and me doesn't work anymore.'

Franzi said, 'It'll be hard' and Paula nodded "Yes."

When Paula put her hands on Franzi's shoulders, she said, 'But I will do it. And then, I am free FOR YOU' poking Franzi's nosetip and kissing her lips with a smile.

Franzi said, 'Ich Liebe Dich.'

Paula smiled and said, 'Ich Liebe Dich, auch.'

Even though they were in Germany, the way Paula and Franzi pronounced 'I Love You' was their special way of saying it. Just like Patrick Swayze in "Ghost" used 'Ditto' to tell Demi Moore's character he loved her.

Back at John's place, things were naked and ugly. Emily had porno pictures posted online to pay her dealer for the cocaine her brother had thrown on the shipyard. John and Phillip were ashamed of themselves and Emily. She came to them for help and they thought it was so she could buy cocaine; but it was to pay for it. While they were trying to ignore their guilt with reason, they were also beating themselves up over not jumping in to help. This couldn't have been a worse time to drop another bombshell on John's lap.

Franzi told Paula, 'It'll surely be hard for John.'

Paula agreed, 'Well, it won't be easy..for either of us. But it would be even worse if I lie to him again. I Love You and I want to be with you.'

Franzi kissed Paula and asked, 'Should I come over with you?'

Paula nodded "No" and said, 'I have to do this alone.' Then she closed the door and went back to her and John's apartment. Franzi took the free time to clean up a little bit. When she sat the pillows on the couch, Franzi thought about yesterday and what she and Paula did for each other.

John was completely certain that Emily was beyond saving; that any money they provided her was going to buy more cocaine. Phillip was being the stubborn and considerate brother for Emily because she needed all the clean friends she could get.

While Franzi was dreaming, Emily popped into the flatshare and said, 'Hey. It looks like someone needs some energy. Fresh supplies!' Emily sat down next to Franzi with a new batch of cocaine. 'Now there'll be a real party. I'd also say: Ladies first.'

Franzi sat up and nodded "No" and said, 'Thanks.'

Emily asked, 'What thanks?'
