Three days of music playing with Paula and Franzi not leaving each others sides. On the fourth morning, Paula eased her eyes open to see her and Franzi still in bed. Nothing was wrong from where they were laying. Using her imagination, Paula saw herself outside the balcony of the flatshare in her morning fatigues. With her looking left to right, then facing the outside world, Paula pictured and heard herself screaming, 'MY NAME IS PAULA!! AND I AM IN LOVE WITH FRANZI! DO YOU HEAR ME?! MY NAME IS PAULA! AND I AM IN LOVE WITH FRANZI!!! OOWWWWWWW GAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!'

The way the morning sun was catching Franzi's body was beautiful and heavenly. Thousands of images, sounds, and scenarios ran right into her head.

Paula thought 'This...is......perfect' as she looked at Franzi lying asleep next to her. Then Paula slid closer to Franzi, whispered into Franzi's ear 'I love you' and smiled at Franzi's peaceful, sleeping face. Paula didn't want anything to change. She just wanted to stay in bed with Franzi.

Looking up at the ceiling with an open grin, Paula heard the song "Time After Time" playing on the stereo, giggled and thought, 'Gee those are really good batteries.' But Paula knew she had to get out of bed sometime. She just didn't want it to be now.

Paula got the music toned down while she got breakfast ready. Eggs over easy, prune juice chiled, and 2 soysage patties for Franzi. She didn't go to the market. Paula just opened the fridge and found whatever she could use. The scent of the eggs and soysage on the oven woke Franzi up. When Franzi looked to the side of the bed, she didn't see Paula.

Franzi said, 'Paula' and there was no reply. She said it again and Paula responded, 'I'm right here.' Paula walked into the bedroom with breakfast ready.

Paula just stood up with a tray in her hands while Franzi looked at her. Then Franzi hid herself under the bed covers and silently giggled. Paula put the tray on the chair and knelt down beside Franzi's pillow. When Paula uncovered Franzi's head, she founds Franzi's face in the sheet. Paula still couldn't see her face.

Paula said, 'Hey, Franzi? What's wrong?' Then she stroked Franzi's hair away from her face. After breathing through her nose, Paula said, 'Hmm. You are so beautiful.'

Franzi nodded "No" and said, 'Stop.' Then she paused and said, 'I'm okay. It's just... We spent the night together. It's a big deal and...I want it to be for you too.'

Paula nodded her head "Yes", smiled, and said, 'It is. I know it is.'

Franzi laid her head down, still facing Paula, and said, 'When I woke up, and you weren't here...I thought everything was just a dream.'

Paula took Franzi's hand and said, 'Me, too.' Then she exhaled and said, 'I didn't even want to get out of bed. I just wanted time to hold still a loittle while longer.'

Franzi put her hand palm on Paula's right cheek and said, 'Then come back.' And she looked so cute and innocent; like a school girl having her first crush.

Paula smiled and said, 'I would love to...' then she kissed Franzi's knuckles and slid into saying '..but I have to get back to work today.'

Franzi knew Paula truly wanted to be with her. But she couldn't put her job on hold forever.

Franzi said, 'Okay. But please stay with me for breakfast.'

Paula said, 'I thought you would never ask.' Then she kissed Franzi's lips and got the tray on the bed.

Paula had come back to work with a round of applause.

Paula said, 'What? You never see somebody go through a fire and recovery? Huh?'

Esteban said, 'Not in this lifetime. You're a woman but you got some large round hairy cajones.'

Paula replied, 'Yeah. And that is really...really gross, Ortiz.'

Eteban said, 'Yes, ma'am. Thank you, ma'am.'

Willis called Paula into his office to debrief her on the situation with The Fasan. Paula told him that she would accept any and all responsibility for her sister-in-laws actions. Willis told her that it was not necessary, that there would be no internal investigation, and that he considered the matter closed.

Willis asked, 'Do you feel you can return to duty?'

Paula said, 'Yes, sir.'

Willis said, 'Good. I'm teaming you up with Esteban on foot patrol.'

Paula replied, 'Understood, sir.'
